PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF SONNERATIA ALBA LEAF EXTRACT MICROCAPSULES BY SOLVENT EVAPORATION TECHNIQUE

Objective: Sonneratia alba leaves were used by the community for traditional medicine to cure muscle pain, back antioxidants, rheumatism, malaria, wounds, tuberculosis (TB) and as a spermicide. S. extract was easy damage because of light exposure, change pH, weather long period storage time. The problem can be solved coating with microencapsulation technique. purpose this research formulate microcapsules solvent evaporation technique using Ethocel 10 cP Eudragit E100 matrix. Methods: extracted ethanol 96%. This dried rotary evaporator. process done (O/W: oil in water). formula designed into six formulas (Eudragit E100: EA1, EA2, EA3 cP: EB1, EB2, EB3). Microcapsules characterized particle size terms surface morphology scanning electron microscope (SEM) encapsulation efficiency. Antioxidant activity formulation have been evaluated DPPH method. Physical characterization on microparticles performed conducting entrapment efficiency SEM picture. Results: In research, containing has developed ethyl cellulose (Ethocel cP) eudragit E100) polymer results showed that high concentration resulted better physical characteristics. Particle range 0.701 1.163 μm. Encapsulation (% EE) categorized poor value ≤ 80% which 74.386% (EB3) 75.248% (EA1). picture EA1 revealed microcapsule rough porous. When polymer, smoother less visible pores obtained. antioxidant ability IC50 values 53.26 ppm. Conclusion: It concluded prepared polymer. potent either an or after being formulated microcapsules.
